Alchemy (Crafting)


Yesterday I managed to add one of the major components of gameplay, Alchemy. After meeting Yenay and getting to know her a bit, Bai Huan is introduced to the world of Alchemy!

In order to make new gear and items which will aid in cultivation, Bai Huan must gather materials and craft them. Qi Pills, Potions, all of these can be obtained in this manner.

The way it works is simple.

First you select a recipe that you know and you are given information about what's required to craft the item. Recipes allow you to craft based on item category (like Medicinal) or name of a specific item. (Note that this is just a WIP version of the current craft screen, I plan to polish it up as soon as practical.)



For example, the basic recipe for Qi Pill is any material of the  (Medicinal) category and a Plant category material. If you have a single item which has both of these requirements, you can craft a Qi Pill using just that item. Likewise you could also use two items, one that has category of (Medicinal) and another which is a type of Plant.


You may next slot up to three items of your choice . Once this is done, you can begin the crafting process and you'll either be greeted with success or failure. In the future, you will be able to choose which traits appear on the items you craft, giving you the freedom to make exactly what you want. 



You can then continue creating or continue about your day. 


The Alchemy system goes hand in hand with the new Dimension Ring, allowing you to acquire tons of materials to make things. Starting out, your recipes will be focused on survival and enhancement for your cultivation, but as the story progresses Bai will learn how to create accessories and eventually Spirit Weapons.

Alchemic items can be found by exploring for the most part, another system of the game that I hope to expand on before 0.6's release.
