When I first started out making games like this , I had several expectations that were quickly shattered. 
Ren'py is a deceptively finicky language to create *actual* games for. It is intended for a specific purpose -- to create visual novels. Ren'py is actually 3 languages rolled into one. You can get away with using just the renpy language to make games, but to do anything significantly cool you also need to know screen lang and python (both of which I've been learning on the fly as I make the game).

Put another way, as long as you use it for the purpose of making VNs and don't do anything too complex you'll get a perfect product. I suspect this is why many games similar to mine keep it very, very simple.

I'm doing anything but -- and with change comes....bugs!

I do not currently have dedicated play testers for the project to help me sort those found issues and the # of bug reports I get is appallingly bad. In the past I've come across bugs that have obviously been persistent for weeks or months, but simply were never reported. These are often the most important type -- the kind that crash the game entirely.

That being said...I get it. Who wants to do something for nothing ? Maybe you just tried the game on a whim, saw a grey screen and decided it simply wasn't worth the time or energy to comment.  Maybe you just felt  it was my responsibility as a developer to have caught these things.  Truth is, there could be dozens of reasons why bug reports simply never find their way to me.

I'm more interested in the solution rather than discussing the whys of the situation -- which is where you come in!

I'm looking to connect with 2-3 play testers for Heavenly Peaks. The offer is  simple, you would report anything (and I mean anything) that you feel needs improvement with a heavy focus on finding / exposing bugs or game breaking crashes.

This means identifying, glitches, unintended effects, things that detract from the gameplay experience --etc. These are the sorts of things that will help me get Heavenly Peaks where I want it to be and cut down on the # of patches I need to perform after each new release. This is especially true with 0.6, which boasts several new systems:

Enlightenment, Body Tempering, Dimension Ring, New Inventory, New Item Classes and several other changes / improvements. This is shaping up to be one of the largest updates of HPC to date, and I'd like to eliminate as many problems as possible out of the gate.

In exchange, you'll get to play the latest version of the game first, along with a special discord role which allows you access to secret channels where you can share your findings.

If you've read thus far and you're still interested, here are a few basic requirements:

1) You must be of legal age.
2) You must be okay with noting down issues as you play, since I will need a text file with the things you found. This will make it a bit easier for you to report things as well so you don't forget.

3)This is time specific, which means 24-48 hour turn around on your findings.

To keep things fair for patrons, you will gain access to 0.6 at the same time they do and most likely months before you normally would -- as I plan to only do public releases with locked content every couple of months (or when the game has changed so much that it's necessary).

Here's how to apply:

A) Join the discord channelfor Heavenly Peaks.

B) As a test, play the latest public version of the game (from the beginning) and see if you can identify any bugs, glitches or issues. Try to make use of screenshots and provide as much context as possible.

C) Even if you can't find any bugs or crashes, you can also suggest things you feel would improve overall gameplay experience in your application. In short, if you can't find bugs or issues, instead focus on constructive criticism.

D) Take a moment to read over your findings and make them presentable, then post them.

Once those things are done,  leave your findings in the #request-suggest channel and let me know you wish to be a play tester.
