0.6 Progress


Hurricane Ida rolled through the southern US last week causing untold damages. Luckily we made it out relatively unscathed. Due to that, the update I had planned for the 31st essentially got delayed by several days. I'll be aiming for a release tomorrow afternoon instead. I'm rapidly reaching a point where I can halt the new additions to the game and release, with that in mind I thought I'd drop a summary of all I've done so far with 0.6:

In many aspects, the look and feel of the project have changed dramatically. This includes a new title and navigation screen in game.

I also revamped the intro to the game, adding some insight into the game with a mysterious confrontation:

Aside from this, I also redid some of the earlier events of the game and implemented a plethora of quality of life changes, largely in response to player feedback.

I've added elements to the training aspects of the game that make them more interesting, added new types of training, improved the rewards of training and also better explained the benefits of training.



The game now has more atmosphere, as I purchased some musical sound tracks for the various locations and events.

The status screen is now more informative as well.


As you can see from the screen above, there are a few new additions to the game as well. These are just a portion of the new systems added since 0.6.

Listed below is a brief summary:

- Perks (Allow for special abilities that help Bai Huan in unique ways)

- Mastery (Improves the damage you deal based on your Martial Style and Mastery level. In addition , it will also determine what skills you can learn in the future with regards to battle.)

- Satiety, You may only consume a limited number of items in a given time period. This decreases with sleep or the passage of time, allowing you to further use more items if you need.

- Crafting (You can now create your own items)

- Expansion on Zones. (Exploration and defeating monsters allows you to improve the area you are currently in, gaining better materials and monster drops. You can also infuse ambient qi into yourself, or the environment to gain better benefits in a zone.)

- New Monsters and monster drops. Eventually monsters will also have special attacks to use during combat.

- Balanced the battle system a bit and added some new content on the event of your defeat.

- Revised the training system. Now there are 2 types of training, Daily and Constant. Daily training can be done once a day, while Constant training can be started and stopped at your leisure. Constant training has the added benefit of a new mini-game. Click the lotus to acquire extra training benefits.

- Enlightenment (Unlock perks, talent points, stat increases and more by obtaining enlightenment on a particular subject)

- Body Tempering (Reduces the damage you take by up to 50% and increases the damage you deal by up to 100%)

- New Inventory and Item systems.

- Tutorial aspects, to help the player along.

-A task system that serves to add a bit of guidance to what the player should be doing at any given time. (WIP)


In addition to this, I've also added a lot more events (random, situational and otherwise).

For the remaining time my focus will turn to polishing, cleaning up a few things and adding the rest of the planned main story content.

I'm sure there's a few things I missed here and there, but I'm pretty excited to share the latest Heavenly Peaks update as it is one of the largest I've done to date. Look forward to it.
